Raise a banner on a bare hill top.
Shout to them, beckon them to enter the gates.

The Leadership Team

Pastor Alan Murphy

Alan comes from the east end of London, and after a short career in banking, became pastor of Wilmington Christian fellowship in 1987. After 20 years, he became freelance by working with several churches and exercising a broader ministry.

In 2011, while helping New Barn Christian Fellowship, he was appointed as their permanent part-time minister.  Alan visits schools across the country and teaches history through re-enactment and workshops. He has four grown-up children and eight grandchildren.

Lynne Bishop

Lynne has been a member of New Barn Christian Fellowship along with her husband Paul for around 18 years.  Music and playing the cello has always been a big part of life and now enjoys playing and worshipping God in the Worship Team music group.  Born disabled (minus a right hand), Lynne was raised to overcome obstacles and prejudices that came across her path and, as a result, feels that God has called her to have a particular affinity with those who are vulnerable or face challenges in their lives.

Working as a civil servant, Lynne is part of disability groups within the workplace to offer help and guidance to others.  Lynne draws on the Bible passage John 9 v1-5 regularly as anyone, whether disabled, vulnerable or those merely going through a tough time, can have God’s works displayed in them and hopes to live her own life so that His works may be visible through her.  Now a member of the Eldership Team, Lynne feels that God is using her for a new purpose and direction.

Paul Bishop

Having grown up attending Wilmington Christian Fellowship, our parent church, Paul joined New Barn Christian Fellowship with his wife, Lynne, in 2002 when they moved to New Barn.  Often working the church’s media projector on a Sunday morning, Paul also enjoys being involved with church events.  Paul has worked in banking for 40 years with the last 20 of these as a Small Business Manager.  It was natural that he was asked to take on the role of Treasurer which he has done for the past ten years however this is something that Paul is happy to undertake as he feels it gives him the opportunity to serve God and the church community.

Ron Owen

Ron has been attending New Barn Christian Fellowship for over 15 years, often sharing the church’s media projector duties with Paul on a Sunday morning, Ron also has a preaching ministry within NBCF. Ron’s business background and experience adds significant value to the Leadership Team, and, now that he is retired, he can dedicate more of his time to the church.

Jenny Kelly

Jenny is the inspiration behind the Welcome Wednesday group here at NBCF... more to follow
